Why Some People Just Love The Classical Movies

Are you a big movie fan? Well, if you're like most of us, you probably enjoy stretching out on the couch and watching a good flick. What genre do you prefer? This is always a key question when it comes to films. Sure, maybe you like a little something from Comedy, Action, and Drama; but what really turns you on? We all tend to have a favorite category when it comes to cinema. Some of us prefer to sit on the edge of our seats, while others prefer to bust a gut with laughter. I know for me, Horror is the ideal genre. There's just something about the danger of it all that makes me feel alive. Then there is my mother. She prefers classical movies over anything else. She claims that they simply don't make them like they used to.

When was the last time you enjoyed one of the great classical movies? Ah, I caught you. You've never even seen one, have you? Well, if this is the case, then I advise to reconsider and perhaps keep an open mind. While acquiring my film minor in college, I certainly got a dose of the classical movies. I must admit that I was shocked to say the least. Wow, there are some really cool classical movies out there. Why didn't I check them out before? A particular course that updated me on classical movies was 30s Hollywood. This class was interesting to say the least. I never knew so much political mess was involved in the classical movies. They truly were trying to convey a message. Directors like Hitchcock attempted to disregard the rules. Speaking of Hitchcock; have you ever seen "North by Northwest?" This is one of the great classical movies that can be seen in color. It stars Cary Grant and should be viewed if never seen before. This is probably my favorite Hitchcock film. While it works as a thriller, it certainly has a comedic element as well.

If you are in search of superb classical movies, a great place to start is online. Sites like Amazon.com can aid you in finding those rare, yet great classical movies that must be owned and enjoyed time and time again. A few to keep an eye out for are "Psycho," "Vertigo, "Casablanca," Wizard of Oz," and "Gone with the Wind." If you haven't yet seen these classical movies, then I suggest you get watching. You don't want to miss out.
